Shetland Pony Grand National® 'Where legends begin, and memories are made'
The Shetland Pony Grand National is an organisation, that raises money each year for a nominated charity.
This year we will be raising money for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust.
We do this by taking a team of Children aged between 8-14 years old and Shetland ponies to different venues across the UK
2026 Trials day
✨🐴 SPGN TRIALS DAY 2026 — Registration is Open! 🐴✨
We are thrilled to announce that the Shetland Pony Grand National Trials Day will take place at Keysoe International on 29th March 2026!
If your young jockey dreams of racing with the SPGN team this season, this is their moment.
Jockey Eligibility
• Aged 8–14 years • Under 5ft in height • Must be suitably mounted according to height and weight • Please refer to the 2026 Rule Book for full eligibility criteria
Pony Eligibility
• Registered with the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society • Height 38–42 inches • Minimum age 5 by 1 January 2026 (born in 2020) • Maximum age 21 as of 1 January 2026 • Fit, sound, and capable of cantering and jumping in a group
📝 Important Information
• All combinations must register online by 22nd March 2026 • Attendance at Trials Day is mandatory to represent SPGN during the 2026 season • Combinations must be confident cantering and jumping in a group environment • Please ensure you read our rule book before registering https://shetlandponygrandnational.co.uk/rule-book
